Hope in Seasons of Loss

Just yesterday, a dear brother in Christ was celebrating a moment of great joy with his family. In the blink of an eye, however, the Lord called him into eternity. What began as a time of rejoicing suddenly turned into a season of sorrow.
Moments like these leave us breathless. They remind us of both the fragility of life and the steadfastness of God. Scripture does not shy away from grief. In fact, we are told in John 11:35 that “Jesus wept.” Even the Son of God, standing before the tomb of His friend, entered fully into human sorrow.
And yet, while we grieve, we do not grieve as those without hope. Ecclesiastes 3:11 reminds us, “He has made everything beautiful in its time.” We may not see the beauty of God’s plan in this moment, but we trust that He is faithful and that His purposes will be revealed.
Hearts ache for families who endure sudden loss, but we also cling to the truth that Christ has conquered death. Because of His resurrection, we hold fast to the promise of reunion in His presence. That assurance steadies us when life feels uncertain and grief threatens to overwhelm us.
Let us pray for those walking through this valley - that the God of all comfort would surround them with His peace, that His presence would be near, and that His promises would hold them fast.
As the old hymn reminds us:“When darkness veils His lovely face, I rest on His unchanging grace. In every high and stormy gale, my anchor holds within the veil.”
Even here, even now, our anchor holds.
