What Have I Been Reading?

One of the questions I get asked fairly often is, "What are you reading?" Here are a few books and articles I've been working through over the past month, along with some brief thoughts on each.
Books
The Redeemed Man by Joel Beeke // Every man should have a copy of this book. I have given more copies of this out in the past month than any book I gave out this past year.
The Five Coaching Conversations: A Research-Based Model for Maximizing People's Performance and Potential by John Gates // Our team (staff) is walking through this right now on a weekly basis. It's a secular resources but has multiple spiritual connotations. I would recommend but there are a few secular themes I would take issue with.
The 5th Wave but Rick Yancey. // In the summer I read more novels than I do all year long. My girls LOVE to read and often I'll grab one of their books to have something we can chat about. This is in no way a Christian book (some language here and there) but I read it after Project Hail Mary and loved it. My youngest and I are currently going through the movie that came out years ago, analyzing spiritual themes, and engaging in "what if" discussions. If you like sci-fi, go for it.
Transcription by Ben Lerner // I have no idea how this book fell into my lap but it did. It's short and the beginning is so wild that it's hard to follow. However, the middle section about a girl who has an eating disorder that pulls at my heat strings. I wouldn't recommend it.
Other Work and Articles
I "rewrote" (or arranged maybe?) "To Be a Christian: An Anglican Catechism" by J.I. Packer last month to "fit" the evangelical church and discipleship (I'm not Anglican). You can download it for free here.
Are Confessions Biblical - Good contemplations on litergy.
NOTE: I don't recommend everything equally. Some resources have become staples that I enthusiastically place into the hands of others. Some are helpful with discernment. Others simply sparked reflection or conversation. My goal isn't to offer a list of perfect resources but to share what's currently shaping my thinking, ministry, and conversations.
