Go and Make Disciples – Matthew 28:16–20

Matthew 28:16–20 brings Matthew’s Gospel to its powerful conclusion with the risen Jesus commissioning His disciples to take the Gospel to the nations. Standing on the mountain, Jesus declares that all authority in heaven and on earth belongs to Him, then gives His Church the mission to make disciples, baptize them, and teach them to obey everything He has commanded.
This message explores the Great Commission and what it means for every follower of Jesus. The mission of the Church is not simply to make converts, but to make disciples—people who know Christ, follow Christ, and increasingly live under His lordship.
Yet Jesus does not send His people out alone. His final promise is also His enduring comfort: “I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Our mission rests not in our ability, but in the authority and presence of the risen King.
